Bangor’s Niamh Perry has appeared on the BBC talent show “I’d Do Anything”, which has launched her on the singing career that she has always dreamt of, having recently appeared on the West End in musicals including Andrew Lloyd Webber’s ‘Love Never Dies’. However, Niamh knows from experience that not everybody has the opportunity to achieve their dreams, due to illness. She recently spent some of her time off in Belfast visiting the leukaemia research group in the Centre for Cancer Research and Cell Biology at Queen’s University Belfast. Niamh wanted to visit this group, supported by the Northern Ireland Leukaemia Research Fund (NILRF), as her uncle died from the illness.

She wanted to show her support for the NILRF as they have active fundraising branches both in her home town and across Northern Ireland, and all of the funds raised by the NILRF are also spent in Northern Ireland supporting leukaemia research. During her visit to the NILRF supported laboratories, Niamh met members of the research group and also launched the NILRF's campaign to encourage participants in the Belfast Marathon to adopt the NILRF as their charity. Niamh later visited the Belfast Children's Hosptial where she meet several children with cancer and leukaemia.
